File 001Status: Open
Tactical Operator
The short version
We need someone we can send anywhere to make the impossible thing real.
We won't tell you much about the mission here. It involves hardware, factories on three continents and a problem nobody has solved before. It ends with something that didn't exist before you arrived, and a team you built to run it.
This role is not for most people
It is intense. You will:
- Live out of a suitcase for weeks at a time.
- Walk into a factory where you don't speak the language and leave with what you came for.
- Be the person who gets called when something breaks at 2am, and be the one who fixes it.
- Be trusted with real money, real decisions and real consequences, with almost no one telling you what to do.
If that sounds exhausting, that's fair, and this isn't your job. If it sounds like the best thing you've read all year, keep going.
Who you are
- You go and see for yourself. Reports and spreadsheets aren't enough. You go to the machine, the bench or the factory floor, and you work out what's actually wrong with your own hands.
- You have impossibly high standards. "Good enough" bothers you. You notice the details other people walk past, and you can't leave them alone.
- You find a way. You've never waited for permission or for perfect information. When there's no path, you make one.
- You're at home anywhere. You're the same person in a cleanroom, a machine shop, a board meeting and a dinner with a supplier on the other side of the world.
- You're an engineer at heart. You understand how physical things work, whether that's electrical, mechanical or both, and you can't help taking them apart.
- You build more than things. Eventually you'll want to hire people, set the standard and build an organization that runs without you in the room.
- You've done something hard before. We care far more about what you've personally made happen than where you've worked or what your title was.
What you get
- Founder-level ownership of a critical part of the company, with a path to leading it as a business.
- Direct access to the CEO and leadership team.
- Work that matters: the robots we build will take people out of the most dangerous jobs on earth.
- Stories you'll be telling for the rest of your life.
How to apply
Skip the cover letter. Tell us, in a few sentences, about the hardest physical thing you've ever made work, and what it cost you.
